Jamie Gaines is a true native of San Francisco. She navigated through the San Francisco Unified School District and ultimately received a Bachelors of Arts in Speech Communications with an emphasis in organizational communication and a Certificate in Travel and Tourism from San Francisco State University.
Professionally, she acquired administrative and leadership skills working in the Executive Personnel Department of Macys, CA while completing her B.A. degree. She then went to work in the General Manager’s office of the Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental Hotel where she worked with managers and clients from around the world. This led to her coming to the San Francisco Giants in 1990 to manage all of the travel needs for the company. Jamie’s role grew in the company, and she had the opportunity to become the Executive Assistant to two successive General Managers. While there for ten years, she learned the game of baseball through the many stories she heard from some of the greatest baseball legends of our time. Jamie then put her professional life on hold in order to focus on her first ministry—her family. After thirteen years, she returned to the workforce where she served in an administrative role at Zion Lutheran School in San Francisco. She became known as the “School Mom” because she cared for not only the children, but also the parents and staff too. She taught classes, led chapel services and worked on many school musicals including The Lion King, Mulan and The Sound of Music, to name a few. She believed that God called her to Zion for a season. While there, she had the opportunity to be the hands and heart of Jesus and to touch many lives.
Ministry has been a major part of Jamie’s life. Brought up in the San Francisco Christian Center church, she served in various roles including Praise and Worship Leader, Drama Department Co-Director, Video Announcement Co-Anchor, Tiny Tots Teacher, as well as a multitude of roles for various ministries and events throughout the years. It has been said that Jamie is a “big picture, small detail administrative professional of the highest caliber, (who is) an integrative, creative strategist for worship and the arts—all of the arts.” Raised in a very musical family, Jamie is also a gifted singer and songwriter of worship and children’s songs.
Jamie is married to Dr. Frederick Gaines, and she is an incredible mom to three amazing children: daughter Chrissa, and sons Freddie and Tiger. She is passionate about spending time with her family, cheering them on and being their biggest fan!
