One thing I’ve noticed in my decades as a pastor is how easy it can be for people to compartmentalize their spiritual life and their professional life. It’s what’s motivated me to do something I’ve never done before: write my very first LinkedIn post!
You’re probably asking, why would a pastor want to post on LinkedIn? Well, I’m so glad you asked! I get it. People usually use LinkedIn to network and trade professional knowledge and insights. But in my experience, spiritual grounding isn’t just about your personal life. It impacts and has importance in every aspect of our lives - especially our work lives.
My name is Pastor Hurmon Hamilton and I am the founding and senior pastor of New Beginnings Community Church (NBCC) in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a vibrant community of diverse individuals united by a shared purpose: to love God, love our neighbors, and build a world where everyone feels welcome and supported.
Often many people find it hard to see where their faith can play into their modern career, or how the bible is applicable to the current times in the workforce. Through a series of posts over the next few months, we will highlight some insights and material to help you incorporate your spiritual life into your professional life.
We’re calling the series, NBCC Voices and you can expect to hear from me as well as others in the NBCC community as we share insights and encouragement that include sharing our stories and experiences paired with practical, bible-based insights and inspiration that you can use to enhance your life AND your work.
I believe that the best way to keep our communities solid and our world a better place is to impact the doers, the people getting things done. If you’re like me, you care about building the next generation, whether it’s in technology, society, or within your family. But when it comes to building your career or business, it can feel lonely and rough at times. And that brings me to where I started. My hope is that NBCC Voices will be that beacon of light you need to feel less alone, to encourage you to keep going, get to the next level, or to inspire that breakthrough for things to take off!
