What's My Purpose?
Pastor Hurmon kicks off this new message series, Exploring God, which is about discussing the large questions about life and existence. This first installment is about the meaning of life: why we exist, why we were born, and what brought us to the places we are at now.
Where we start searching for meaning matters. We can either start with ourselves and the world around us, and invent our own purposes, such as riches, love, entertainment, and education, but we will find ourselves lacking a life with a lasting meaning. Or, we can start with God and God’s purposes.
Finding meaning in God starts with recognizing that our purpose is based on the will of God and what he wants in their lives. This perspective creates a life that is meaningful because we are eternally loved, are built for cosmic relationship and communal companionship, and are part of an eternal plan. Our capacity to love and be in relationship with God and others creates eternal and lasting meaning as we do good works in God’s name and share the good news of God’s call to us.
