Navigating Grief and Trauma

In this message, Pastor Hurmon discusses the ways that we navigate grief and trauma, and the ways we can help others navigate grief and trauma.

When we help others navigate grief and trauma, we should show up for the person experiencing grief, not with platitudes or assumptions, but with acknowledgement of their pain, and offer practical ways to help them as they experience their feelings and move forward.

When we experience grief, we might feel angry, depressed, shameful, or off-balance. In those moments when we experience grief, we should accept help from our communities, acknowledge and find healthy ways to deal with our negative emotions, find faith to see ourselves through the darkness, and lament and remember what we lost in our moments of grief and trauma as we heal.
